HAC Chairman Thangzalam opens PNTMP Tourney

The 38th Tournament of the Poumai Naga Students Union, Paomata (PNTMP) was opened at Liyai by Thangzalam Haokip, Chairman, Hill Area Committee as the chief guest; Adahrii Maheo, MCS, SDO, Paomata as the guest of honour and Kh Siile Anthony, Director, HRD & E, NEC, Shillong as the functional president respectively.
The PNTMP established in the year 1950 with the theme, "Wade in peace" will continue the sports till February 4 with different games like men's football, both men & women's volleyball and both men & women's basketball.
Sanii Huzii, president of the PNTMP while welcoming all the delegates said that sports build good habits, confidence and discipline.
With this aim, the sports are organized to build character and discipline and asked all players to play at their best with heart and soul.
Adahrii Maheo, SDO, Paomata block as the guest of honour termed the tournament as a great opportunity to showcase the ability and skill to master talent by the youths.
The guest of honour while lauding the organizers for bringing together different villages of the region to learn that there are certain norms and boundaries to follow in one's life before it's too late just as play is disqualified if/when the ball goes out of the line.
The SDO also asked all participants to go having learned something new by participating in the games and Sports and urged all players to excel in their playing career.
Functional president, Sille Anthony asked all players to take sports as important part of one's life and continued that it was the why the central Govt has made sports compulsory for all educational institutions.
He asserted that other States of the country have recognized the North East as sportsman rich region.
While asking the players to play with spirit and love, he also said that the true character of a person is shown in the play field.
Winning is important but not the end, he said and asked all players to take a decision not to quarrel or argue during the play.
Unlike the past, good discipline and techniques are counted at present, he added.
Encouraging the players, the HAC Chairman Thangzalam Haokip whose wife is also from Saranamai asked the players to struggle oneself just like Mary Kom too struggled to attain the current position and bring home laurels to the land and country as well.
He also asked them to explore their talents and skills even up to National and international levels.
