Rankhung-1 crowned champions of 1st Open Teenage Gospel Soccer

Rankhung-1 clinched the title of the 1 st Open Teenage Gospel Soccer organised by Makhuam -III Baptist Church in collaboration with the co-ordinator of NKYS-Tamenglong, Latngamlung since October 15 at Makhuam-3 (Haolaijang), Noney district.
The soccer tournament participated by 12 teams from different Churches of the neighbouring villages of Makhuam-III was organised under the theme " Awake and achieve" with an aim to explore the hidden talents of young teenagers both in the field of spiritual and sports, said a press release of Makhum-III Baptist Church.
The opening ceremony of the tournament on October 15 was attended by Kennan Kamei, president Rongmei Naga Council- Manipur as chief guest, Adai Dangmei, chairman Longmai Customary Pei as the guest of honour in the presence of Church leaders and village leaders of the surrounding village.
The first match was played between Namthanjang and Haolaijang.
In the final match of the tournament, Rangkhung-1 defeated Taokumjang by 3-2 goals to lift the champions trophy and a cash prize of Rs 20,000 .
Runners up Taokumjang were feted with Rs 7,000 .
Barnabas of Taokumjang was named best player of the tournament while Mr Kinbuanpou emerged top scorer with seven goals in his name.
Rangkhung-1's goalkeeper Mr Jonathan was also adjudged best goalkeeper.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was attended by Abraham of Lungrang; Latngamlung, co-ordinator of NKYS-Tamenglong and Majabung Gangmei, former speaker, Zeliangrong Baudi as presidium members, the release added.
The release further mentioned that special councelling classes were conducted to build up spirituality of the teenage players besides everyday matches.
