NAKSAM annual sports meet concludes in style

The 44th edition of Northern Kuki Area Sports Association Manipur annual sports meet cum cultural conference which began on January 30 at S Changoubung village in Kangpokpi District ended in style today.
The event was organised with an objective of promoting unity, peace and harmony among the people in the northern area of the district through games and sports and cultural exchange program which can highlight Kuki youths the rich diversity and uniqueness of their culture.
Lamkholen Kipgen, Executive Member, ADC Sadar Hills graced the closing ceremony as chief guest while Lunthang Haokip, Member ADC Sadar Hills and Thangminlen Kipgen, general secretary, Kuki Football Academy, D Phaihel attended as guest of honour and Lamminthang Misao attended as functional president.
Mangtinlal's 30th minute strikes helped South Changoubung Youth Club to lift the Youth Football Champion trophy over Lungphou Youth Club in the final match after Hengbung Veteran lifted the Veteran Champion trophy by defeating Maohing veteran via tie break after 2-2 draw during regulation.
Earlier, in the regulation time Thangginlen of Maohing Veteran scored in the 20th and 45th minutes while Seikhohao and Satgoulen scored in the 42nd and 50th minutes respectively for Hengbung Veteran.
The youth football champions, S Changoubung Youth Club were awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs 10, 000 and the runners up Lungphou Youth Club received trophy and cash prize of Rs 7,000 .
Veteran champions, Hengbung Veteran received a trophy and cash prize of Rs 8,000 and runners up Maohing Veteran received trophy and cash prize of Rs 6,500 .
In women's football, Maohing Youth Club bagged the champions trophy with a cash prize and J Songtun Youth Club bagged the runners up trophy with cash prize.
In women's volleyball, Songpekjang Youth Club bagged the top honour with cash prize and Maohing Youth Club finished runners up.
Songpekjang Veteran bagged the best veteran team award while Chongouthang Misao of Lungphou Youth Club; Seijahao Vaiphei of S Changoubung YC; Sehgouhao Khongsai of Hengbung YC; Jangkhosei Kipgen of J Songtun YC; Thangkhanlen Chongloi of Taphou YC and Jamkholun Kipgen of Hengbung Veteran bagged the best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, best striker, man of the tournament and senior most player of the year awards.
Hengbung Youth Club, Lungphou Youth Club and Taphou Youth Club finished first, second and third position in the cultural dance competition held during the cultural conference.
Earlier, all the dignitaries led by Lamkholen Kipgen, EM ADC Sadar Hills inspected the youth football finalist players and kicked off the final match.
NAKSAM vice President, Lamminthang Kipgen de-hoisted the flag in the presence of other dignitaries as a mark of closure after NAKSAM president, Hekai Chongloi expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contribute for the successful event of 44th NAKSAM annual sports meet cum cultural conference.
