1st Chandel DC Cup kicks off

Chandel, July 30 2014:
Under the theme "Ceaseless efforts and glorify our motherland", the 1st Chandel DC Cup 2014, a district level men's football tournament, kicked off from today at Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School Ground in Chandel District Headquarters.
The inaugural function of the tournament which is being hosted by Riverlane Youth Club was graced by Thangjamang Haokip, former General Secretary of Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) General Headquarters as Chief Guest and Th.Menthing Chothe, Secretary, Art and Culture, Chothe Tribe Union Manipur as Functional President.

The tournament which will continue till 15th August is being participated by 36 teams of different youth clubs in Chandel District and will be competing for the coveted Cup and cash prize of Rs.40, 000/- for the winning team and Rs.20, 000/- for the runner up team besides other individual prizes.
While thanking the Organizing Committee for organising the tournament, Thangjamang Haokip said that there are many hidden talents among the youths in the remote areas of the District.
So, organising such tournament will give an opportunity to explore and exhibit the hidden talents of the youths in the District.
After inspecting players and declaring the 1st Chandel DC Cup opened by the Chief guest, the opening match of the tournament was played between Lambung Youth Cultural Club and Panchai Sporting & Cultural Club �A .
During the match, Panchai Sporting and Cultural Club-A beat Lambung Youth and Cultural Club 5-4 via tie breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw in the normal time.

Darbunglen (Jersey No 7) of Lambung netted the solitary goal for his team in the 35th min while St koradun (Jesrdey no 3) of Panchai equalized the score margin in the 48th min.
In the second match of the day, Khangshim FC beat Panchai Sporting Club-B 5-2.For Khangshim, Armstrong Khaling (Jersey No 13) and William (Jersey No 17) netted two goals each while their team mate Hormi (Jersey no 10) scored the other goal.
On the other hand, the two goals of Panchai came from Benbu (Jersey no 7) and Gogoi (jersey No 13) .
Tomorrow, Beru Angthi FC will take on Pthungdam YC in the first match while Paraolon YC and Liwa Changning FC will clash and Thamlapokpi YSCT and Japhou YC �(B) would play in the second and third round respectivly.
