State YAS Dept opens up RCC at various districts

For the first time the Youth Affairs and Sports Department has opened up regular Coaching Centres for various Sports Disciplines at various district HQs including Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Bishnupur, Churachandpur amongst others.
Regular coaching classes have been a flagship program of the Department that nurtures sportsperson in over 25 Sports disciplines and had been conducted since 2002 and based only at Khuman Lampak Stadium.
After the need was felt to expand these training centres at various locations of the State to tap the potential of the children, Department of YAS has decided to open up these facilities irrespective of the difficulties of the area be it due to shortages of manpower or equipment, a statement of Youth Affairs and Sports Department said.
The training centres which were opened today for Wushu at Bishnupur for over 80 students; Taekwondo and Archery at Tamenglong; Swimming, Wushu and TT at Kakching; Athletics, Kabbadi, Archery, Handball at Thoubal; Sapak Takraw and Archery at Ukhrul amongst other disciplines.
The related sports materials have also been issued at the centres.
Apart from the existing Coaches, PET'S of the Department, medallists at National and International level along with other experts of the games will also be imparting training to the children.
The remaining districts will also take up at least one or two disciplines to impart Regular Coaching Course.
The new districts will also be taking these training courses once offices of District Youth Affairs and Sports are set up, the statement continued.
It is hope that commencement of these Regular Coaching Courses will surely be able to bring out more talented sportsperson from the most remote parts of the State.
Director of YAS, Armstrong Pame along with the department's officials, coaches and PETs concerned have been making an all out effort to ensure that these training program become a huge success and continue in future.
A detailed routine of experts including coaches, PETs of various disciplines have been assigned to regularly tour these District RCC centres and monitor the progress of these courses, the statement further said.
