Phantu Cup: Monsang Pantha, Chengkhu enter 2nd round

, Oct 7: Monsang Pantha has sailed into the second round after defeating Angkhel Chayang 3-0 via penalty shootout following a goalless draw in the first match of the ongoing Ist Phantu Cup Football Tournament played at the ground of Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Japhou Bazar here today.
On the other hand, Chengkhu FC beat Ziontlang FC 2-1 in the second match of the tournament today and moves into the second round.
Chengkhu's Angkesh Sengul (Jersey No 18) and Beningwar (Jersey No 5) netted one goal each in the 58th and 68th minute of the match.

Ziontlang's Mk Salemthang (Jersey No 14) converted a goal from a penalty kick decided by the centre Referee Th Joyshing Monsang against Chengkhu's Joaash (Jersey No 13 ) for playing foul in the 73th minute of the fully charged game.
Ts Ngamhring and and Ts Alpha were also cautioned by referee for their unsporting behaviour in the 64th and 66th minute of the play respectively.
After the last qualifying match to be played between Abungnikhu Youth Club and Riverlane Youth Club, the second round of the Tournament would begin from tomorrow.
All together, 15 teams out of total 29 participating in the tournament have qualified for the second round.
Among the Pool-A teams, Panchai Sporting and Cultural Club, Liwa Changning Youth Club, Late D Manthrung FC, Phunchung Youth Club, Charangching Youth Club, Unified Sporting Assn (UNISA) and Chengkhu FC have qualified for the second round while the teams qualified for the second round in Pool-B included Deeringkhu Lamkang Colony, Japhou Youth Club-A, Lambung Youth and Cultural Club-A, Purum Chumbang Youth Club, RMS United and Monsang Pantha.
Two teams in Pool-B namely Abungnikhu Youth Club and Riverlane Youth Club would have to outdo each other in tomorrow's last qualifying match.
