D Phaihel Night Football : MFC thrash MYC, CA defeat LYC 5-4

Kangpokpi, September 28 2017: The first ever Night Football Invitation Tournament kicked off today at D Phaihel village in Kangpokpi district with the participation of thousand fans and spectators.

Milui Football Club (MFC) thrashed Maohing Youth Club (MYC) 3-0 in the first encounter at 3 pm while Leimakhong Youth Club edged out Champhai Area by a margin of 5-4 in penalty shoot out at 6 pm .

Kamgunmang’s hat-trick handed MFC the first win to cruise into the second round.

Though the first-half of the match ended goalless, it rained goals in the second-half.

Kamgunmang found the net in the 50th minute.

MYC also tried to restore parity and fought back but ended without much success.

As the time was ticking away, Kamgunmang struck his second and third goals in the 82nd and 89th minute to seal the match 3-0 .

Luntinlal of Maohing YC and Janggouhao of Milui FC were booked yellow card by referee for unsporting behaviour in the 78th and 89th minute respectively .

Kamgunmang of Milui FC was declared Man of the Match and awarded with a trophy.

In the second match, Champhai Area edged past Leimakhong Youth Club 5-4 in penalty shootout as both the teams were evenly matched and could not manage to break the deadlock in the regulation time .

Leimakhong custodian, Lovejoy was declared Man of the Match and awarded with a trophy .

PSYC Saikul will face FC Ngailai in the first match at 3 pm while SGAYO will take on Ebenezer Football Club in the second match at 6 pm tomorrow .

The tournament carries prize money of Rs 50,000 with a trophy for the champions while runners-up will settle for Rs 30,000 with trophy.

Third placed and fourth placed teams will also get Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 each with trophies .

Other individual prizes include best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, best striker, top scorer, hat-trick scorer and man of the tournament and man of the match .

The tournament featuring 16 invited teams will conclude on October 6, 2017 .
