2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament : PTCC overcome late pressure to beat YWC-L by 1 wicket

PTCC-Patsoi Part-III survived a late scare to beat YWC-Langthabal in a keenly contested Group A opening match of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak today.
YWC-L who won the toss and opted to bat first, were bundled out for 180 runs in 38.1 overs courtesy a prolific bowling performance from Sohail Akram.
PTCC then finished the chase in 38.5 overs with just one wicket left in hand.
YWC-L suffered early jolt and were reduced to 23 for 3 in 7.2 overs with Sohail Akram removing the openers cheaply and Shapam Kenjit bowling out Heisnam Manikanta for 4 .
Ngangbam Bikramjit and Ngangbam Maheshkumar however pulled out YWC-L from a precarious situation by forging a remarkable 93-run fourth wicket partnership in 110 balls.

Paonam Champion however broke the partnership by setting up Ng Bikramjit (43) catch to reduce YWC-L to 116 for 6 .
Champion then trapped Ng Bishwash (4) lbw to make it 136 for 5 before Sohail Akram swept the following three wickets including Ng Maheshkumar for 61-ball 67 to leave further dent and walked out with the best bowling figures of 5/39 in 8 overs.
Kenjit then completed his two wicket haul by dismissing Laishram Dinachandra before Sadananda Okram removed Maibam Subash for 19 to end the innings.
In the chase, PTCC batters put in a concerted effort to keep the runs flowing through sensible batting performances from G Gomi (34), Andyroshan Mandingbam (45), Yambem Kaikuyamba (24) and Hijam Hemachandra (23) despite Maibam Subash doing his best to throttle the run rate.
The innings however got more intense in the last 6 overs as PTCC slumped from 160 for 5 in 34.5 overs to 171 for 9 in 37.4 overs with Hijam Hemachandra getting run out in the first delivery of the 38th over and Naorem Victor was trapped lbw by H Manikanta for a 2-ball duck.
Shapam Kenjit (10 off 6 balls) and Sadananda (1 off 2 balls) however stood firm to guide PTCC to a winning 181 with a wicket and 7 balls left to spare.
Maibam Subash was the pick of YWC-L bowlers with the best figures of 3/28 in 7.5 overs as H Manikanta finished with 2/16 in 5 overs .
Sohail Akram who enjoyed a fifer in YWC-L's innings was adjudged man of the match.
KASC, Khomidok will play PCC, Mayaikoibi in a Group B match tomorrow.
