Manipur Shooting Competition Fierce battle for title, Ajay sets new record

Imphal, May 23 2017:
With three golds, one silver and one bronze each, Imphal West and Imphal East District Rifle Associations are in a fierce battle for the championship title on day three of the 27th All Manipur Shooting Competition 2017, organised under the endorsement of Manipur Rifle Association at the Khuman Lampak Shooting Range.
BSISC, with two golds, one silver and two bronzes, and JSR of IPS with two silvers are trailing in the third and fourth positions currently.
Yesterday, Huidrom Ajay of Imphal West set a new record in the junior men's 25-metre centre-fire pistol.
He surpassed the previous 2014 record of Imphal East's M Barish Sharma by 39 points.
H Ajay scored 276 points to break the record and grabbed the first position in the junior's centre-fire pistol category.
Jupiter Asem of JSR/IPS also set a new record by scoring 247 points to get the second position and Jackson Longjam of Imphal West scored 240 points to claim the third position.
In the individual event of the 25-metre men's centre-fire pistol, Ajay scored 276 points, Jupiter Asem 247 and L Rohosana of Imphal East 240 to claim the first, second and third positions respectively at the competition, which will conclude on May 28 .
