2nd Tikendrajit Memorial Football : DYA trounce SWC 11-0 in opener

The 2nd edition of Ksh Tikendrajit Singh Memorial U-13 Boys State Level Invitation Football Tournament being organised under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association by District Sports Association Kakching kick-started today at DSA playground.
The opening ceremony of the memorial tournament was attended by Dr N Birchandra , Retd Medical Officer, Chandel as chief guest and Y Mangoljao singh, president DSA Kakching as functional president.
The league cum knockout tournament is being participated by 5 teams namely Sena Athlete's Organisation (SAO) and Juvenile Association (JA) from Kakching; Development Youth Association (DYA), Elangkhangpokpi; Keirak Makha Social Welfare Club (KMSWC), Keirak and United Brothers Sporting Association (UBSA), Mantak was.
The top four teams after league stage will qualify for the semi-finals (knockout) which is expected to begin from June 1.DYA, Elangkhangpokpi made a big start as they trounced SWC, Keirak by a huge 11-0 margin in the tournament opener.
DYA rode on Shyamchandra, Akash, Rustam and Rohijit to secure such a big win today.
Akash of DYA found the breakthrough in the 20th minute after unsuccessful attempts in the earlier part while Rohijit scored his first goal during the additional time of the first half (30+2') and handed their team a 2-0 lead.
The situation of SWC, Keirak who were struggling hard to stage a return got worsened in the second half as the players of the Elangkhangpokpi side ran through the defence line up with ease to pump in 8 more goals.
It was three minutes into the second half that Rustam found his first goal and extended the lead to 3-0 before striking another in the 48th minute.
Shyamchandra who was also looking for his turn hit his opener in the 35 th minute before adding his second the very next minute.
Aluish also tried his luck with a stinging shot in the 52nd minute which went straight into the net past the already nervous custodian of the Keirak side.
Robinson of SWC while trying to clear an attempt sent the ball into the own net giving the Elangkhangpokpi a 10-0 lead.
Rohijit then struck the finisher in the last minute of the match and wrapped up the 11-0.In the second match of the tournament stage latter at 4 pm, UBSA Mantak downed JA, Kakching by 3-1 goals to open it account in the league table.
The first half finished 1-0 in favour of UBSA through a goal from Jemson scored early in the 3rd minute.
JA Kaching found the equaliser in the 28th minute when Kh Rishikanta beat the keeper of UBSA but the parity did not last long as Zidane broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute with a fine shot before Vicky struck the finisher after a gap of just one minute to make it 3-1 at the end.
