ESU lifts junior girls' trophy

In a keen competition, Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei defeated Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club (NYTHC), Okram Chuthek by a solitary goal in the final match of the 9th state level Soraisham Ronika memorial junior girls invitation football tournament 2012-13 organised by Imphal East District Football Association at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
After a long wrestle among the players of both the team, ESU got a penalty kick against its opponent.
Amidst vehement protest from the side of NYTHC over the umpire's decision to award penalty kick, T Ranjita of ESU netted the winning solitary goal in the 75 minute of the match.
During the match today, K Tony of ESU and T Ibe of NYTHC were given caution by umpire.
Winning the tournament, ecstatic ESU team was given a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while in demonstrating their protest against the penalty kick awarded, disappointed players of runners up team (NYTHC) they left without taking their awards.
The fair play team award of the tournament consisting Rs 3000 and a trophy was given to WFA, Kakching.
