Chandel Badminton Assn turns champion of 12th Inter-Hill District Badminton Tournament

Tamenglong, October 17 2014 : The 12th Inter-Hill District Badminton Tournament concluded on Friday at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong.

All Chandel District Badminton Association swipes overall champion of the tournament.

All Chandel district and Tamenglong district got six gold each and Chandel got more silver and bronzes from Tamenglong and swiped away the championship of the tournament 2014 .

After Tamenglong, Ukhrul got five golds while Senapati and Churachandpur district got two golds each.

The closing ceremony was graced by C Arthur W, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong and also chairman of the organising committee of the tournament as chief guest.

In his speech as chief guest speech, C Arthur W, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong said that the tournament aims to promote and expose the talent of the young players.

He also proposed all the minded persons of the Hill district badminton association to come together to give the idea to go and play beyond outside state and even to the national and international.

He also contributed a sum of Rs.one lakh to start corpus fund to support player to participate in state level and national level in the future.

He also urged all other deputy commissioner of hills district contribute the same.

In the meantime, Nehemiah Panmei, President of Tamenglong Badminton Association expressed his sincere gratitude to all the donors and participants of the tournament.

He said that there are many bright badminton players from the hill districts.

The organising committee called out all the oldest players from all hills badminton association including- TS.

Kothar of Chandel, RS.Abel of Senapati, M.Wunganing of ukhrul, Ibopishak of Churachanpur and Athiu Gonmei of Tamenglong.

All of them are reportedly cross 6o years of age.
