8th Shaheed Manoranjan Football Tournament NCC, AIM reach quarter final

Imphal, December 13 2017:
NCC, Khonghampat and Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam beat their rivals today and marked their entry into the last 16 round of the ongoing 8th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF State Open Football Tournament 2017 at Astro Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak .
The tournament is organised by Group Centre CRPF, Langjing under the supervision of IGP, Manipur and Nagaland Sector and All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) .
NC Club, Khonghampat came from behind to edge out SAI, Utlou 3-2 in a hard fought match .
Though both teams were evenly matched, SAI, Utlou managed to register the first goal of the match in the 30th minute off a penalty kick by L Bisheshor.
The 37th minute saw SAI, Utlou reduced to a 10 men army despite the lead as M Chinglemba was sent off following a double offence .
The equaliser came in the 52nd minute when Netrajit Singh of NCC fired in a clinical shot.
The parity did not last long as SAI responded with another goal to retain the lead again with L Bisheshor scoring his second goal in the 62nd minute reviving the hopes of SAI .
The game started to shift towards NCC in the middle portion of the second half.
10 men SAI, started to crumble as NCC geared up with a more intense offence and it was in the 62nd minute that Ng Naocha found the back of the net to level the score at 2-2 .
NCC did not sign off for even a minute and carried on their offences leaving the defence line of SAI nervous and confused.
Taking advantage of their numerical strength NCC thronged the opponents’ half and Ng Naocha who was lurking at the edge of the box easily got through a gap and succeeded in tapping the ball in the 71st minute to hand his team a 3-2 victory .
AIM, Khabam also entered the last 16 round of the tournament after thrashing KPSC, Kakching 4-2 in the second match of the day .
Though KPSC opened the account in the 8th minute through a goal scored by N Sanjeevkumar, Th Bandona of AIM replied with an equaliser the very next minute.
AIM with their greater skill and possession ended the first half with a 2-1 lead through another goal scored by Md Fiyaz Uddin in the 14th minute .
The domination continued through out the second half as well as Bandona scored his second goal in the 61st minute handing AIM an easy 3-1 lead .
L Gogocha of AIM struck the last goal for his team in the 90th minute to further extend the lead by 4-1.Luckily, KPSC got another penalty kick during the additional time and Ngamneiril who stepped forward for the kick successfully converted the kick .
KLASA, Keinou will take on FC Zalen, Sadar Hills tomorrow at 1.30 pm.
