Red Shield Division Mini Marathon held

Army Unit located at Bishnupur under the aegis of Loktak Brigade conducted a Mini Marathon on 11 Feb 2018 in Bishnupur District, said a press note released by (PIB DW).
This event aimed to give recognition to young talents and encourage them to aim for higher achievements besides promoting sportsmanship spirit amongst the young bloods.
The Mini Marathon, which was flagged off from Phubala, was organised in three categories, boys above 18 years of age for 15 kms, boys under 18 years of age for 10 kms and 5 km race for girls.
Registration for volunteers were open till February 9 and finally a total of 437 volunteers participated in the Mini Marathon.
All the participants were presented with T-shirts, besides cash prizes to the top five winners in each category.
The most encouraging sight was to see a large number of parents and companions who accompanied the participants till the finish point encouraging the young runners.
Army also acknowledged the contribution of the Civil Administration namely District Police, District Sports Officer and District Health Department for their invaluable support in making this event a huge success.
Army also thanked the entire Bishnupur Police Force for assisting in security, crowd and traffic management during the entire event, wherein SP Bishnupur and his team of officers were personally present to supervise their activities.
