Venika, Kunjarani win gold at Sub-Jr Women Boxing Nationals

Manipur finished runners up with a haul of 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 1 st Sub-Junior Women National Boxing Championship 2018 organised under the auspices of Boxing Federation of India in Nagpur since September 2 while Manipur's Wangjam Ethoibi Devi was adjudged "Best Challenger of the Championship" .
Haryana were able to clinch the overall team title of the championship.
Yumnam Venika showed why she was the best with a 4-1 win over Haryana's Parineeti in the 38 kg final bout and claimed a gold medal before Thokchom Kunjari got a RSC verdict in her favour as she was about to knock her opponent Madura of Maharashtra out in the third round of the 54 kg final bout.
Manipur's Huidrom Grivia Devi (48 kg) and Wangjam Ethoibi (50 kg) settled for the silver medals today after close 2-3 point losses to their opponents in their respective final bouts while Bindiya Maishnam (46 kg) and Elangbam Thoithoi Chanu (52 kg) finished with bronze medals.
