An exciting clash in the final of the 1st S Binoy Memorial Men's Open Football Trophy 2008 tournament saw 4 Star, Wakhong goalkeeper S Narakanta lead his side to the title triumph with three penalty kick saves in a 7-6 victory via sudden death against SDC, Tiger Camp at PYC ground, Sagolmang today.
With the match locked at 3-3 in the regulation period and tied with the same scoreline in the tie-breaker 4 star's Samson converted from the spot in the sudden death as Narakanta parried Th Rohen's kick for the victory and walk home richer with the Rs 25,000 top booty.
Runners-up SDC was awarded Rs 15,000 .
Earlier in the match, Inaoton (4th, 47th) and M Bijen (20th-P) scored for the eventual champions with the Tiger Camp side responding through I Nilakumar (7th, 57th) and E Abocha.
Narakanta bagged the best goalkeeper title with his team-mate Charan Rai named the best player and SDC's I Nilakumar winning the top scorer honour on 13 goals.
other winners include Benjamin Kamson of SDC (best defender), Flying soccer (best promising team) and SSC, sekta (best discipline
team).
In all 10 teams had participated in the tournament that began from March 14.
