Model Club-A edge out CYCLONE to clinch Manipur veteran cricket title

Imphal, February 28 2015 : Model Club-A, Chingamakha clinched the title of the 3rd Twenty-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Langthabal Public ground, Langthabal.

In today's final, Model Club-A claimed a narrow 4 run victory against Cyclone Cricket Club, Thangmeiband.

Put into bat first, Model Club-A set a 165 run target to win losing three men in 20 overs.

Mujibur Rahaman whacked a confident 77 runs off 63 balls with Rohindro notching 39 runs off 29 balls and gave Model Club-A 164 runs.

CYCLONE bowlers Binoy, Roben and Rajesh took a wicket each.

In reply, Stanley's 71 runs off 50 balls and Roben's 25 runs off 16 balls were not enough.

With 6 wickets down, CYCLONE were narrowly edged out by 4 runs scoring 160 runs in 20 overs.

Model Club-A's Iqbal and Tomba took two wickets each while Chaoba took one.

The champion team Model Cub-A were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a rolling trophy while the runners's up team CYCLONE received a cash prize of Rs 7000 and a rolling trophy.

The third and fourth placed teams IWDCA and NAPSA respectively were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 each.

Man of the final match title went to Mujibur Rahaman of Model Club-A and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 500 .

CYCLONE's Ng Rajesh clinched the man of the series title and he was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 .

The highest scorer and highest wicket taker title went to Syed Mujibur Rahman (Model Club-A) and L Binoy of CYCLONE respectively.

Both were given a cash prize of Rs 1000 each.

The closing ceremony was graced by Langthabal A/C MLA Karam Shyam, MVCA vice-president N Indrajit, MVCA advisor Ch Chaoba and MCA vice president Ng Ibohal as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
