LMFC emerge champions of Manmasi Brotherhood Football Tourney

LMFC, Yairon beat Hmarkhawlien FC, Cahchar 3-1 to emerge champions of the Manmasi Brotherhood Football for Peace and Harmony today at Jiribam Higher Secondary School ground, Jiribam .
The tournament which got underway from October 10 is organised by the Youth, Education and Sports Affairs Department of the Kuki Inpi Manipur to promote communal harmony among all sections of the people through the medium of sports .
LMFC which trailed 0-1 to Hmarkhawlien FC in the first half fought hard back to secure a comfortable 3-1 in the final clash played today to grab the championship title .
LMFC and Hmarkhawlien FC started the first half well with both teams trying to crack open rival defence lines.
One fine run enabled Hmarkhawlien FC to register their single goal when Zarte fired in a powerful shot in the 22nd minute.
LMFC did not slacken and kept on finding cracks to restore parity but their efforts could not bring colours till the end of first half .
The second half saw a turn for LMFC as their efforts begin to yield positive result.
Remsang, who was lurking in the inner territory collected a well measured pass from the midfield and banged in to equalise the score.
The condition worsened for Hmarkhawlien when Bene of LMFC found the net to reverse the lead in the 56th minute making it 2-1 .
Stung by the lead, Hmarkhawlien also tried hard to pull back the match but LMFC fended off all penetrating moves made by the former.
The win for LMFC was underlined when Sansuok danced past few defenders of their rival team and cracked a power-packed shot in the 77th minute .
The valedictory funtion of the tournament which is participated by 17 teams from Manipur and Assam was graced by Dr Chaltawnlein Amo, MLA, Tipaimuk AC, Dr Tara Manching Hanzo, chairperson, women affairs Kuki Inpi Manipur, Paominthang Singson, president Kuki Chiefs Association Jiribam and Tamenglong districts, M Mobi, SP Jiribam Police Station, Major Manosh Das, 37 AR Kadamtala Jiribam, Ashok Kumar, general secretary AJSA, village chiefs as dignitaries .
A cash prize of Rs 70,000 was handed to the team champion, LMFC and the runners up Hmarkhawlien FC were awarded Rs 20,000.PSC Lungreijang which bagged the third place in the tournament were also awarded Rs 10,000 as consolation prize.
