CYCLONE, Thangmeiband lift trophy of 16th Manipur Veteran Cricket tournament

CYCLONE, Thangmeiband emerged champions of the 16th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2018-19 beating YWC, Langthabal by 3 wickets in the final match today.
The tournament was organized under the aegis of Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium and Langthabal Public ground and a total of 7 teams clubbed into two groups participated in the tournament which got underway since December 13.YWC, Langthabal won the toss in the final match today and elected to bat first and managed to score 123 runs all out in 27.8 overs.
In reply, CYCLONE, Thangmeiband reached past the target in 23.5 overs with the loss of seven wickets.
Sashikanta of YWC, Langthabal started the match on a good note scoring 36 runs of 34 balls while Kumarjit added 13 runs facing 14 balls.
Rojeshkumar (14 runs of 15 balls) and Umakanta (13 runs of 30 balls) contributed to set a modest target of 124 runs.
Binoy and Rohendro of CYCLONE scalped 3 wickets each while Bikom and Robindro took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Sashikumar of CYCLONE smashed 57 runs of 50 balls while Binoy scored 22 runs of 37 balls.
The other batsmen who have contributed in reaching the target were Thoithoi (17 runs of 20 balls) and Shyamsundar (14 runs of 8 balls) Kumarjit of YWC was the most successful bowler claiming 3 wickets while Samananda, Premchand and Kumar took 1 wicket each.
A cash prize of Rs 15,000, which was donated by E Bhorot Singh, Associate Prof, Lilong Haoreibi College in the name of his late mother 'E Kainahal', along with Rolling trophy was handed over to the winning team 'CYCLONE' while the runners up team YWC, Lanthabal team received a cash prize of Rs 12,000 donated by Dr A Herojit Singh in the name of late A Ibochou Singh along with trophy.
Binoy of CYCLONE was declared man of the match and was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 donated by A Mohandas Singh in the name of his late grandfather 'S Mani Singh' with trophy while I Ibobi Singh of CHAMP was adjudged player of the tournament for scoring 201 runs and claiming six wickets and was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 with trophy.
Best bowler of the tournament went to A Hamid and Simon of NAPSA, Kha-Imphal for taking seven wickets each in the tournament and received a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each with trophy while the best batsman of the tournament went to I Ibobi of CHAMP and received a cash prize of Rs 1,000 with trophy.
