Preparations put in place for OORJA U-19 talent hunt football

In an attempt to make FIFA U-17 WC slated to be held in New Delhi in October this year a catalyst for change and the tipping point for football in the country, 'Oorja' CAPF U-19 talent hunt football tournament will be held across the country.
IGAR (S) will organise OORJA U-19 talent hunt football tournament 2017 for the State of Manipur from May 1 to May 10 at Khuman Lampak Main stadium.
A pre-tournament media interaction was organised by 9 Sector AR under the aegis of IGAR (S) at Tulihal Airport Army camp today where Brig JS Bainsla, DIG, 9 Sector AR briefed the media on the preparations for the event and sought their wholehearted support.
Brig JS Bainsla said that the competition in the State would be held in collaboration with AMFA and YAS.
A coordination committee has been formed with representatives of all stakeholders for selection of teams participating in the competition.
Laishram Sarita, a renowned boxer has been selected as the brand ambassador of the event, he said.
KV Langjing, IEDFA team, Imphal West team, Churachandpur football team, Bishnupur club, Thoubal Club, ESU, NYTHC, KRYPSA and YWC, Langthabal will participate in the tournament.
The tournament is an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a prelude to the U-17 FIFA World Cup to be held in New Delhi in Oct 2017.The event is aimed at creating a mass movement around the game of football and to encourage young boys and girls to develop their inherent talent and showcase it at the national level.
Selected players will represent the State in the Phase-II (NE zone) of the tournament.
Besides, top three teams will get Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
Curtain raiser and entertainment programme will be held on April 28 at Indoor stadium, Khuman Lampak while the opening ceremony will be held on May 1 .
