N Tomchou bags three medals at Youth Weightlifting Worlds

Imphal, March 27 2023:
N Tomchou won India three medals yesterday at the IWF Youth World Weightlifting Championships being underway at Duress, Albania.
N Tomchou, who is a student of National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, clinched silver medal in clean and jerk, a bronze in snatch and an overall total silver medal.
He managed 131 kg in clean and jerk to win the silver and 103 kg in snatch to settle for a bronze and to amass a total of 234 kg in the men's 55 kg category for the second place.

K Duong of Vietnam topped the category with a total lift of 258 kg, 114 in snatch and 144 in clean and jerk while Akyun Burak of Turkey was third with a total lift of 227 kg (102 kg in snatch and 125 kg in clean and jerk) .
Manipur Weightlifting Association congratulated the young lifter for his feat at the world championship and extended best wishes for his future career.
The association also lauded efforts of coaches and trainers who have been grooming him from an early period and those at Patiala National Camp before the world event.
