MU Inter College Football : Presidency College, LMS Law College, Thambal Marik College and Mayai Lambi College emerge victorious

Presidency College, LMS Law College, Thambal Marik College and Mayai Lambi College earned victories in today's matches to move into the next round of A Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Men's Football Tournament being hosted by YK College, Wangjing at Kodompokpi Sports Complex under the supervision of MU Sports Committee.
Presidency College entered into the next stage of the competition with a 2-0 win against NG College in the 6th match of the tournament staged today.
Seiboigun gave Presidency College a 1-0 lead in the first half with his strike in the 24th minute while Khalkhogin banged in the other in the 70th minute of the match.
Presidency College will meet Biramangol College on August 30 in their next fixture.
In the seventh match of the tournament, LMS Law College beat L Sanoi College 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw during regulation time, to move into the second round.
Roshan Oinam gave L Sanoi College the lead in the 13th minute but Chuimatai Shimray fired in the equaliser for LMS Law College in the 40th minute of the match before the game was decided via penalty shoot-out.
In the shoot-out, Jitson Laishram, Bikram Laishram, Radhakanta and Santosh scored for the losing side while W Ajoy, M Prasanta, Th James, N Bernard and S Apollo all scored for the Law College team.
Meanwhile in the 8th match of the tournament, Thambal Marik College fought from a goal down to edge out NIELIT, Akampat by 2-1 goals.
The Akampat side found the breakthrough early in the 3rd minute but O Khambaton levelled the score in the 17th minute for the winning side before O Surchandra broke the stalemate in the 54th minute.
Thambal Marik College then produced a fine defensive performance to defend their lead till the end and set up next round clash with LMS Law College on August 30 .
The day also saw Mayai Lambi College beat Manipur University by 1-0 margin thanks to N Robert's strike during the additional time of the first half (35+1') .
