FC Lamjao cruise into Winners' Cup semifinals

FC Lamjao Kakching today stormed to the semi-final while JSYC, Kangpokpi reached quarter-final of the ongoing Thangjam Birachandra-Maipakpi Memorial 24th Winners' Cup 2019 after beating their opponents in their respective home grounds, on Thursday.
Following a 3-3 draw in their first leg match, the Kakching team, today, defeated LYCC, Chandel by 3-0 in their home ground to reach the semi-final.
The first goal of FC Lamjao came from E Joykishan, who successfully converted the penalty in the 26th minute, while the second and third goal for the Kakching side were netted by Th Yaiphaba (87') and L Kisan (90+3') .
Meanwhile, JSYC Kangpokpi beat Symropia FC by 3-0 goals in another crucial second-leg fixture of the ongoing Winners' Cup fixture played at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs today.
Though the visiting team Symropia FC representing Churachandpur headed into the high-voltage fixture on the back of a 2-0 advantage, a result they earned after beating JSYC Kangpokpi at Churachandpur ground three days ago, succumbed to 3-2 on aggregate at Kangpokpi.
The match witnessed a different side of JSYC Kangpokpi as they enjoyed most of the possession and opened their account in the 9th minute through Paogulthang L.As the home team required atleast two more goals to earn a place in the quarter-final, JSYC continued their effort to extend the lead while Symropia FC focused on their defence in the second half.
As the game reached its climax, a breakthrough moment for JSYC came through Seiminhad Vaiphei goal as he beat 70th minute.
After the aggregate was down to 2-2 tie, Paogulthang L rose again and rounded off the scoring for Kangpokpi team in the 81st minute, thereby securing a place for his team in the quarter-final.
KIYC Kshetri Iril Mapal will meet KPFC Bishnupur on November 23 at the ABHA ground, Kshetrigao while AMOFA Moirang will face MPSC at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School ground.
