Governor inaugurates 6th Inter-Collegiate Youth Fest / Sports Meet

Imphal, November 18 2019:
The inaugural function of the 6th Central Agricultural University (CAU) Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival cum Games & Sports Meet 2019 was held today at the premises of College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Imphal.
Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, Dr Najma Heptulla spoke about the role of games and sports in developing the personality of students.

Stating that 13 constituent colleges of this University established all over NEH region except Assam are participating in this meet, Dr Najma said that CAU has done a commendable job in uniting the youth of different constituent Colleges from different States of the North Eastern Region on a single platform.
The meet will spread the message of love, peace, compassion, hard work and commitment among the youth, the Guv added.
Recalling that North East India, especially Manipur, is known as the "powerhouse" of sports in the country, Dr Najma urged all the participants to work hard to become world champions in their fields.
With the fresh initiative taken up by the Government of India to promote games and sports, the future looks good for all the sportsperson of the country, the Guv added.
The Governor then congratulated all the officials, participating players/teams as well as those who are participating in the festival for their contribution towards festival-cum-sports meet.
As part of the programme, Dr Najma Heptulla unfurled the University flag and received salute to the parade performed by 13 teams.
Dr S Basanta Singh, Director of Instruction, CAU Imphal; Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal; Prof Y Jakendra Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal and Prof M Premjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal also graced the function as presidium members.
