First ever 'Zeme Olympics' concludes at Jalukie

The first edition of Zeme Olympics that had commenced from 10 of this month concluded successfully yesterday at Jalukie, Nagaland under the theme, "Arise and Win." It is the first time for Zeme people to come together from different places and compete in the football and volleyball events, reports our correspondent.

The program was made possible with crowd funding from among the Zeme tribe.
TR Zeliang, former Chief Minister of Nagaland graced the opening ceremony as special guest while Sentiwapang Aier, DC, Peren district was the guest of honour that day.
According to organizers, 106 contingents including 27 from Assam, 26 from Manipur, 51 from Nagaland and others from Bangalore and Delhi took part in the games.
Altogether 70 teams competed in the football competition, 48 in men's volleyball and 25 in women's volleyball, reports our correspondent.
More than 10,000 people reportedly came to witness the event including representatives of Oxford Documentary Film Institute, UK who documented and filmed the whole events.
Closing ceremony held yesterday was attended by Namri Nchang, Advisor to Water Resource, Govt of Nagaland and Kelei Zeliang, IAS as special guest and guest of honor.
