Imphal, February 14, 2013:
Riding on a brilliant three goal burst from W Bisheswor and another two from Ph Hegou SSC-A Sekta blanked a hapless SPYC, Seijang by a margin of 5 goals to one in the Chalou Cup today.
The floodgates opened as early as the 14th minute, when an unmarked W Bisheswor received the ball near the goal mouth of SPYC and he had nothing much more to do than just tap it into the far right of the net.
The early goal spurred the team from Sekta and displaying better skills and team play, increased the lead in the 24th minute, the goal coming from the boot of Ph Hegou.
The goal was a fine culmination of a move down the flank and Hegou was well placed to take a power packed kick from a precise pass.
SPYC did try to come back into the match, but to no avail and W Bisheswor was at it again in the 38th minute when he capitalised on a defensive lapse of SPYC to find the target.
The fourth goal came just one minute later in the 39th minute when Bisheswor dispossessed the ball from an SPYC player in the mid-field and after out pacing a couple of defenders created enough space for himself to find the net and put his team ahead by 4 goals to nil.
Ph Hegou also chipped in with another goal in the 42nd minute to literally take the match away from the reach of the SPYC team.
After the lemon break, SPYC managed to break through and score a consolation goal when L Lalit found the target in the 50th minute of the match.
In the second match of the tournament today, YDCL-B Pungdongbam handed a humiliating 9-1 defeat to HYDC, Huidrom.
YDCL opened their account as early as the 3rd minute of the match when N Amarjit was bang on target to beat the custodian of HYDC, Huidrom.
So complete was the domination that YDCL players were all over the field, with the HYDC players barely getting their feet on the ball.
Buoyed by the early goal, H Telheiba came into his elements and pumped in three goals in the 13th, 28th and 48th minute of the match.
In between N Amarjit was at it again when he scored in the 20th minute.
Kh Ratan chipped in with two goals in quick succession in the 44th and 45th minute, while in between L Arunnath and I Watson netted the ball in the 31st and 34th minute to complete the rout.
The consolation goal for HYDC came in the 49th minute when H Dhanabir found himself in a good position to send the ball home.
