CM opens 25th Liangmai Sports Meet

Imphal, January 12 2018:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh flagged off the 25th Meet cum Silver Jubilee of Liangmai Sports Association (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) at Liangchi (Makui) village, in Kangpokpi district, today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a VIP gallery would be constructed for an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh, within this year, at the meet's venue.
As desired by the people, the Government would also consider the proposal for the construction of the Mini Sports Complex in the village, he added.
He also said that the State Government would repair the damaged base of a bridge located on the road that connects Makui village with IT road as soon as possible.
It may be mentioned that the base of the bridge was damaged in the recent flood.
Stating that the Union Government is focussed at developing the North East region, the Chief Minister urged the public to fully utilise this opportunity.
Appreciating the unity and good hospitality of Liangmai people, the CM also congratulated the LSA for organising the sports event every year for the last 25 years.
He said that that there is no dearth of talent in Manipur.
However, the State needs to develop more infrastructures to tap these talents.
The Government would extend all possible help to the organisers in the coming years to promote the sports culture in the region, he added.
Different cultural troupes, including a group of dancers of 14th Bn Sikh Regiment showcase various cultural programmes at the opening function.
Wangoi AC MLA Oinam Lukhoi, Konthoujam AC MLA and Manipur Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dr S Ranjan, Chief Secretary RR Rashmi, DGP LM Khaute, Media Advisor to CM, Irengbam Arun, Principal Secretary to CM, Vineet Joshi and 14th Bn Sikh Regiment Commandant Col AK Singh were also present at the occasion among others.
