IE Khelo India : KSYC, HUFC cruise into football semi-finals

The 4th match of the U-14 Boys Football Tournament organised by District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Imphal East Under Khelo India Scheme at Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak saw FUC, Uyumpok knock out Poiroukhongjin by an overwhelming 12-0 margin to set up quarter final clash with PYC, Pungdongbam while KSYC downed PRIYA 2-0 in the 5th match to advance into semi-finals.
In the first match of the day, FUC ran riot from the word go to threaten Poiroukhongjin defence and took only 8 minutes to get breakthrough through Ningreingam.
They continued to keep the ball in their possession and it was Ronish who banged in two goals back to back in the 12th and the 19th minute before striking his third in the 24th minute.
Kh Musaraf found the 4th goal in the 21st minute before Angamba took charge of the attack and calmly hit three goals on the trot (24', 25', 32') to extend the lead to 8-0 .
Thangneiram (34', 47') and James (40', 42') then took the honour to score in two goals each and completed the 12-0 demolition of the poor Poiroukhongjin side.
The second match of the day saw M Jamsol (28') and W Drovid (49') score a goal apiece to hand KSYC a 2-0 win against PRIYA to seal the semi-final berth.
HU FC outlasted RAK (Reliance Academy Koirengei) which saw off NEROCA FC by a slender 1-0 in the previous tie, by 1-0 goals to move into the semi-finals.
Both RAK and HU FC were evenly poised throught and shared almost similar amount of possession and attempts but a 50th minute strike by Rohel proved worthy to be a winner and earned HUFC the semi-final berth.
Khelo India fencing begins
Fencing competition for under 14 and 17 as a part of the ongoing Imphal East Khelo began today at Khongman Zone 4 in the presence of M Nungshirei Devi, Pradhan Khongman Zone-3; Y Bony Singh, District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer, Imphal East and Ranjit Singh, secretary Manipur Fencing Association as the presidium members.
The opening day of the competition saw Nk Tondonsana claim a gold medal in the U-14 boys Epee event beating P Bishesh while Sh Jenith and K Ramakanta finished with bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Khello India Table tennis competition for U-12 and U-14 boys/girls commenced today at the community hall of Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai.
Y Bony Singh, District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer, Imphal East; L Dorendro Singh, president UYO and Samungouba Sagolsem, chairman UYO table tennis as the presidium members.
Altogether 36 boys and 21 girls are taking part in the competition.
