N Rajningthou Memorial Trophy : YUCC, YWC register third wins to inch towards quarterfinals

YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel beat KASC, Khomidok by 5 wickets to cap their Group A league campaign with three wins in four matches in the 3rd MNCA U-16 Boy's Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2021-22 at YCWO ground, Heinoupok today.
KASC having won the toss, opted to bat first but bundled out for just 81 runs within 16.2 overs as YUCC's medium pacer, Ningthoujam Rahulkumar emerged wrecker-in-chief removing three batters including two openers on ducks en route to his bowling figure of five-for (5/14 in 6 overs) .

As the other 9 batters succumbed on naughts or with single digit scores, Mustaque with 14 runs returned top scorer for the Khomidok team.
YUCC's Ningthoujam Kenedy (2/22 in 3 overs), Kh Lohitsun (1/24 in 3 overs) and Khumanthem Prakash (1/16 in 4.2 overs) also help tremendously in applying break on KASC.
YUCC then took only 15.1 overs to cruise to the victory at the cost of 5 wickets despite Rahis Khan of KASC taking three wickets for 30 runs.
Khumanthem Prakash scored the highest 17 runs for YUCC in the chase while M Ricky and N Reshan scored 13 and 12 runs respectively to set up the big win.
Besides Rahis, Bm Afsar (1/29) and Md Sharif Khan (1/2) took a wicket each in this innings in a lost cause.
Eventually, N Rahulkumar who enjoyed a five-for and helped YUCC hand KASC the second loss in three matches, was named man of the match.
Elsewhere at ABA ground in Kshetrigao, Pukhrambam Rohit blasted off an unbeaten 150 off just 95 balls to ensure YWC seal third successive Group B win.
YWC opted to bat first after winning the toss and stacked up a huge total of 371 runs for the loss of 3 wickets as Pukhrambam Rohit clobbered 2 sixes and 25 fours to post an impressive 150 not out.
Rickymenan Thokchom and Kangjam Thoithoiba scored identical 43 runs before both succumbed to Boocker Kangjam of KCDO who returned with 3/25 in 6 overs.
Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba was also unbeaten on 33 with Rohit on the other end of the crease when the innings ended.
The total could have been lessened, had KCDO bowlers not conceded 102 extra runs in this innings.
Though they had a daunting task, KCDO chase ended in a whimper as they skittled out for just 55 runs 20.5 overs with spinner Y Achouba of YWC rattled the batting line up picking three wickets for 3 runs in 6 overs which contained 4 maiden overs.
Pacer Yumnam Athouba (2/18 in 3 overs) and spinner Sorokhaibam Dailish Singh (2/3 in 3.5 overs which contained 2 maiden overs) also added teeth to the YWC bowling attack while Seram Robinson (1/21 in 2 overs), Yumnam Chingkhei (1/0 in 5 overs) and Kangjam Thoithoiba (1/0 in 1 over) managed a wicket each.
Pukhrambam Rohit of the Langthabal team who shone with a century was named man of the match.
