2nd Veteran Sports Meet kicks off

Most of the western countries in the world are developed because the people have high adventurous spirit.
But such adventurous spirit is lacking among Indians, Chungkhokai Doungel, Ex-Fin.Minister, Govt.of Manipur has opined while speaking as Chief Guest in the inaugural function of the 2nd Veteran Sports Meet 2014 organized by Sadar Hills District Sports Veteran Association, Manipur under the theme "Peace, Unity and Harmony" at Bongmol Village playground today.
Emphasizing the importance of games and sports in an individual's life as well as in the society, the Ex-Minister asserted that games and sports is an important tool to refresh the body and mind with discipline.
The inaugural function has also been graced by Tongmang Haokip, IRS(Retd) and Hautinlen Vaiphei, Special Contractor, Chief of S.Molnom as Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.
While the Chief Guest hoisted the Sports Meet flag, Thangjamang Kipgen, MDC Autonomous District Council Sadar Hills, who is popularly known as Maneithangja, sang his well-known number "Jingkar Bongnoi".
The opening match was played between Haipi Area Veteran and J.Songtun Area Veteran in which J.Songtun Area Veteran defeated Haipi Area Veteran by a solitary goal.
The winning goal came from Lamseh (Jersey no.2) in the 14th min of the match.
Today's inaugural function was also attended by EM, MDCs of ADC Sadar Hills, CEO, SHADC/Kpi, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Sadar Hills Women Union, Kanggui Town Committee and various village chiefs and chairman of the adjoining areas.
The sports meet will continue till March 6 .
