6th All India Police Archery Championship begins

Imphal, February 20 2018:
The 6th All India Police Archery Championship 2017-18 hosted by Manipur Police under the auspices of All India Police Sports Control Board was inaugurated by Governor Dr Najma Heptulla as chief guest at Khuaman Lampak Main Stadium.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that an event of such magnitude provides an opportunity to promote National integration.
The Championship will surely bring the personnel close to and understand each other better.
Appreciating the Police Department for hosting the National level Championship in Imphal, she stated that the Imphal Championship will set new records in Archery as done in last year's Archery championship held at Birsa Munda Football Stadium, Ranchi.

Quoting the words of Pierre de Coubertin, "The most important thing in Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well", the Governor encouraged the participants to strive more for better result next time even if some of them did not win in this Championship.
In the archery events held in the opening day, Manipur Police managed to fetch 3 gold medals and 2 bronze medals to top the medal tally.
In the women's 30m Indian Round, Manipur's H Rajpriyari hit 318 points (X-0, 10-9) to finish first while Palavi of BSF struck a total of 318 (X-3, 10-3) and finished second.
Binuma Brahma of Assam Police bagged the bronze medal with 315 points.
In the women's 50 m Indian Round, M Aruna of Manipur Police bagged the gold medal hitting 315 points.
Tutu Moni of BSF and Rajpriyari finished second and third with 312 points and 310 points to fetch the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
H Rajpriyari claimed another gold with an overall score of 628 points and added another gold medal for Manipur while Binuma Brahma bagged the silver medal with a total of 622 points and M Aruna Devi of Manipur was settled with bronze medal with a total of 616 points.
Altogether 26 police and defence force units of India are featuring in this championship which will continue till February 23.The programme was also attended by number of personnel in uniforms.
