KPC & ITPC stroms into the semi; DPSKL outclass rival team ESC

Khurai Polo Club (KPC) and Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club (ITPC) stormed into the semi finial of 25th Governors Cup Invitational Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung on Thursday.
KPC and ITPC produce commanding performance to decimate their challengers.
In the first quarter final match played between KNMM Riding School (KNMNRS) and Khurai Polo Club (KPC), the later defeated KNMNRS by 6-2 score.
KPC produced an all round performance in every department of the game.
P Ojit and O Rojer initiated the process of slaughtering by scoring 1 goal each to provide 2 goal lead to KPC in the first chukker.

O Satyajit of KNMNRS pulled back one to go even in the chukker.
At the half way mark both teams were at 3-1 in favour of KPC.
KPC added two more through P Ojit to take the lead to 3 goals in the third chukker.
In addition to scoring goals KCP thwart attempts of KNMNRS to come back into the match.
In the final chukker T Rose of KPC and L Dhaneshwor of KNMNRS score one goal each for their respective teams.
But the efforts of KNMNRS were too little and too late and KPC walk away with the match with 6-2 and advanced into the semi final.
In the other quarter final, Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club (ITPC) produced a superior performance against Nambulmapal Polo Club (NPC) to book a place in the semi final.
In the first chukker, both the teams where level at 1-1.M Manihar of ITPC and L Tarun of NPC were the goal scorer.
The play during the initial period of the match portrays an exciting match to the capacity crowd.
ITCP raised the level of play by some notches in the second chukker and thumped in 1 goal and defended well to maintain a clean sheet in the chukker.
L Dolen scored the lone goal of the chukker and the lead was increased to 1 goal at 2-1 by the end of the second chukker.
While the crowd was anticipating a close match ITCP had other ideas.
To the disbelieve of everyone including NPC players, ITPC stormed the NPC gaol and scored 5 goals through L Sadananda (2); M Manihar (2) and M Dolen (1) in the third chukker.
In reply, NPC could score only 1 goal through S Girimohon.
Before the final chukker ITPC was comfortably placed with 5 goal advantage at 7-2 score.
In the final chukker, any hope of comeback for NPC in the match was nullified when L Sadananda and M Dolen score 1 goal each to take the lead to 7 goals and NPC players were left searching for the goals as ITPC defended their goal mouth from any harm.
The proficiency in attack and defence guided ITPC to semi final with 9-2 win over NPC.
Earlier, District Pana Sagol Kangjei Lup (DPSKL) and ESU Nongmeibung played the first match of 14th Governor's Cup Women Polo Tournament where DPSKL out clashed ESU.
It was like a practice match for DPSKL as players of DPSKL scored goals at will.
The first chukker started rather quietly as DPSKL score two goals through L Thadoi & L Ashakiran and was the precursor for the storm to be unleashed in the subsequent chukkers.
Four goals though S Sunita (2); L Thadoi (1) and L Ashakiran (1), all DPSKL players, were fired into the ESU goal while ESU players were left running for the ball and frustrated.
At the breather, DPSKL took a lead of 6 goals over ESU.
ESU chances of coming back into the match was thrown into the wind when 4 more goals, L Leihao; L Ashakiran; S Sunita and L Thadoi, added 1 gaol each to rub salt into wounds of ESU spirit.
Tearing of ESU goal was completed when S Sunita of DPSKL score the final goal of the match.
At the end of the match DPSKL kept a clean sheet.
