Imphal, February 06 2017:
A second half strike each by Jacky, Gojen, Modhumangol, Suraj and Khogen proved enough for NACO, Imphal West to register a comprehensive 5-0 win over JPC, Agartala today in the last quarterfinal league round of the 6th Ksh Nonigopal Memorial invitation football tournament 2016-17 at Jiribam Govt Hr Sec school playground.
It was a cagey start for the two teams as they showed eagerness to take the lead from the first whistle.
The two sides tested each others with some accurate passing and sharp shots.
However, none could succeed in making a significant breakthrough and the first half ended with the two teams tied 0-0.

After a barren first half, the two sides bounced back with more vigour, eager to break the deadlock.
After making frenetic efforts, Jacky succeeded in opening the account for NACO in the 54th minute.
Even as JPC pushed hard to find the equaliser, they were rather forced to play defensive as NACO forwards upped the pressure on their defence line.
Eventually, Gojen doubled the lead for NACO as he booted home another goal in the 59th minute.
Later, the Imphal West outfits breached their rivals' citadel thrice to wrap up the match in style.
Modhumangol (68'), Suraj (85') and Khogen (90+1) took turn to score a goal each against the hapless JPC, Agartala.
NACO defenders proved too strong for the Tripura outfits to breach.
NACO will be pitted against Maibong SA tomorrow in the quarter final match while HISU, Thoubal face LFK FC, Mizoram in the second round.
