12th Junior National Wushu Championships State players make impressive start

State players made an impressive start in the 12 Junior National Wushu Championships, which got underway today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, bagging the top spot in the Nanquan events in both boys and girls categories.
In the boys category, H Ramananda Meitei of Manipur and Neeraj Paswan of Delhi shared the top spot with 8.66 points, while H Kangleinganba Singh of Manipur came in second with 8.59 points.
Sher Bahadur of Punjab came occupied the third position with 8.46 points.
In the girls category the top glory went to T Arita Devi with 8 points while Rizina Tamang of Delhi came second with 7.65 points.
Geeta Xalxo of Jharkhand occupied the third spot with 7.60 points.
In the absence of MP Dr T Meinya as the chief guest, Dr Ng Bijoy MLA and Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board lit the lamp to mark the inaugural function.
Other dignitaries included RK Nimai Singh IAS, Commission, YAS and Art and Culture as president and S Manglemjao Singh, IPS, DIG (Range III) as the guest of honour.
The tournament is being organised by the Wushu Association of Manipur and will go on till December 31 .
The inauguration programme started at 1.30 pm and some of the highlights included, presentation of rosettes/bouquets, welcome address, presentation of mementoes, Wushu demonstration, oath taking by the participants etc.
