15th Veteran Cricket Tournament CYCLONE beat KSC by thrilling 4 runs to lift trophy

CYCLONE, Thangmeiband today beat KSC, Lambulane by 4 runs in the final match of the 15th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Model higher Secondary School and Oriental College Ground to emerge champions.
The entertaining final match of the tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association was witnessed by W Bhaktaraj Singh, retd Director YAS, K Tiken Singh, Principal, Model Higher Secondary, Ch Chaoba Singh, retd Addl Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, RK Bidur Singh, National Awardee Film Critics, S Priyananda Singh, secretary MCA and N Indrajeet, president Manipur Veteran Cricket Association as dignitaries who also distributed prizes to the winners and other participants.
The first inning of the match saw CYCLONE post a total of 146 runs for 10 in 25.5 overs after winning the toss with Sachi making the highest score 70 runs in 75 balls.
Roben and Tejbanta added another 22 runs in this inning.
Gouminlun, Lelen and Anggu of KSC picked 3 wickets each in this inning while Helpao claimed a single.
In reply, KSC fell short just 5 runs to win the title losing all the wickets in the 29.3 overs.
Lenpu was the highest scorer in this inning scoring a total of 67 runs off 75 balls.
Gouminlun and Kakai scored 17 runs each in this innings while Gogou gathered another 10 runs in 13 balls.
Rohindro of CYCLONE claimed 3 wickets in 6 over in the second inning while Bikom picked 2 wickets in 5.3 over.
Binoy and Surjit also claimed 1 wicket each in this inning.
The winners team were honoured with Rs 15,000 and a rolling trophy donated by E Bhorot Singh, Associate Prof, Lilong Haoreibi College and Life Member, MVCA in memory of his mother Late Keinahanbi while the runners up team bagged Rs 12,000 with trophy (rolling) donated by Dr A Herojit, Associate Prof, CAU and Life Member, MVCA in memory of his father A Ibochouba Singh.
Jodip of CHAMP, Khagempalli was awarded man of the series for scoring 153 runs and taking 6 wickets while man of the final match went to Sachikumar of CYCLONE for scoring 70 runs.
Both received Rs 1000 each as the prize donated by A Mohandas, vice president MVCA of Palace Compound in memory of his father-in-law Sapam Mani singh.
Bikom of CYCLONE who dismissed a record 15 wickets was declared highest wicket taker while CHAMP's Gulsan who made 203 runs got the highest scorer award carry Rs 1,000 donated by A Jibolata in memory of her husband A Jugeshwor Singh, former executive secretary, MVCA.
Jodhiba, Sachikumar and Thoithoi of CYCLONE; Tarun and Chingtam of DSU; Kumarjit of YWC, Langthabal, Gulson and Jodhi of CHAMP; Gouminlun of KSC were also encouraged with Rs 5,00 each for scoring above 50 runs in this tournament.
The prize was donated by Dr Ksh Radhapyari Devi in memory of her husband L Adore Singh, former vice president, MCVA.
