Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament CHAMP down CCC by 17 runs

CHAMP, Khagempalli downed Chajing Cricket Club (CCC) by 17 runs in the ongoing T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at the playground of Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary School today.
On winning the toss, CHAMP opted to bat first and their batsmen did a good turn in totalling 116 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Tejbanta led the way in making a quick 31 runs off only 24 balls.
He was well supported by Rajiv who scored 23 runs off 30 balls, Geet who made a quick 14 runs off 10 balls and Ratan who scored 13 runs off only 9 balls.
Akbar led the way in the bowling department of CCC picking up three wickets in 4 overs.
The other bowlers however could not give him the needed support though Ranbir, Rakesh and Krishna scalped one wicket each.
Needing 117 to win the match, the batsmen of CCC started carefully but crafty spells from the bowlers of CHAMP did them in.
Krishnakumar made 30 runs off 41 balls, but the wickets kept falling at regular interval at the other end though Akbar made a quick 21 runs off only 18 balls and Gulson made 16 runs off 19 balls.
For CHAMP Jodiba bowled a tight line and length and managed to scalp 4 wickets in three overs.
He was ably supported by Ratan who scalped two wickets in 4 overs while Premananda, Gopal, Tom-thang and Sanjoy grabbed one wicket each to bowl out CCC for 99 runs in 18.2 overs.
For his fine bowling spell of 4 wickets in three overs, Jodiba was adjudged the man of the match.
With the win, CHAMP have entered the final and they will meet CYCLONE in the final on February 23 .
