23rd Winners Cup : KDC reach quarter final despite 1-3 loss

KDC's 2-0 win at home came in handy as they sealed the quarter final berth in the 23rd Thangjam Birachandra-Maipakpi Memorial Winners' Cup for Men 2019 being organised by All Manipur Football Association despite 1-3 loss to AMOFA, Moirang at Multipurpose Higher Secondary Ground, Moirang today.
M Johnson found the net twice and H Biju added a single to help AMOFA, Moirang clinch a 3-1 win against the Chandel side today but their effort fell short as KDC, Chandel had the edge on aggregate thanks to an away goal that was scored today.
AMOFA had a bright start with M Johnson opening up the account in the 7th minute but KDC, Chandel which had a 2-0 advantage from the previous game managed to pull level in the 24th minute of the match through Thantileen and make it 1-1 at the half time.
The two sides were evenly poised for a major portion of the second half displaying a series of runs and interceptions as they search for the winner.
The game however took a turn in the last ten minutes as AMOFA started to take charge of the game and it was M Johnson who fired his in second to help AMOFA regain the lead.
AMOFA needed two more goals to overturn the table on its side but ended biting the dust as they managed only one goal through H Biju late in the 89th minute.
O Roshan of AMOFA, KDC's Y Sonam and Thangtinleen were respectively yellow carded by the referee in the 22nd, 18th minute.
