61st National School Games - Thang ta : Manipur launch team champion campaign

Manipur launched their team champion campaign by winning 9 gold in the 61st National School Games -Under -14&17 Boys and Girls Thang-Ta, organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS), Khuman Lampak under the aegis of School Games Federation of India which began yesterday at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The opening ceremony of the school games was graced by Government of Manipur Consultant Dr RK Nimai Singh, Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Secretary RK Dinesh Singh (IAS), YAS Director W Bhaktaraj Singh and Thang-Ta Federation of India president H Premkumar Singh as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
In the U-14 girl's category, Reena (Delhi) clinched gold while S Sonia (Manipur) and Subhabati Sharma (Assam) settled for silver and bronze medal in the 37 kg group respectively.
In the 41 kg, Nancy (Delhi), Sakshi (Maharashtra) and Dudani (Gujarat) won gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
Y Dayarani of Manipur clinched gold in the 45 kg event while Preeti (Delhi) and Kanika B (Haryana) bagged the silver and bronze medal respectively.
In the 49 kg, L Sophiya Chanu (Manipur), Yogita (Delhi) and Khushi Dubey (Vidhya Bharti) claimed gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
T Priyalaxmi Devi (Manipur) won gold in the 53 kg event while the silver and bronze medal went to Nirmal (Delhi) and Muskan (Assam) respectively.
In the 53 kg event, Priyanka Oinam (Manipur), Naina (Delhi) and Chouhan Muskan (Gujarat) respectively bagged the gold, silver and bronze medals.
In the U-14 boy's group, H Kenchu Meetei (Manipur) secured a gold in the 40 kg event while Papai Sarkar (Delhi) and H Langamba (Assam) secured a silver and bronze medal respectively.
O Langonba (Manipur), Arun Kumar (Delhi) and Hari (Maharashtra) clinched a gold, silver and bronze medal in the 44 kg event.
In the 48 kg category, N Ishworchandra (Manipur) gold, Himanshu (Delhi) -silver and Ansari (Maharashtra) - bronze were the winners.
Wangba Th (Manipur) claimed a gold medal in the 52 kg while Roshan Kumar (Delhi) and Abhay (Haryana) settled for silver and bronze medal.
K Imtiaz Khan and N Chinglemba of Manipur won a gold and bronze medal in the 56+ and 56 kg.
