KFA's night football tourney kicks off with 66 teams in fray

Kuki Football Academy's initiative, Open night football tournament at D Phaihel village in Kangpokpi district began yesterday with 66 teams in the fray.
The fourth edition of the foolball tournament was kicked off by Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills who graced the auspicious occasion as the chief guest.
BP Vikas Basnet, Executive Member, ADC Sadar Hills; Lunthang Haokip, Member ADC Sadar Hills; Seilen Lhouvum, Member ADC Sadar Hills attended the function as guests of honour while Chongpu Kipgen, Retd MCS, president DSA Sadar Hills and Boithang Haokip, ISL player attended as functional president and special invitee respectively.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills lauded the organizing committee especially the founder of KFA and its initiative Open Night Football Tournament in bringing Kangpokpi football to a next level while appreciating the relentless efforts in continuing the tournament.
He also said that KFA will be the torch bearer in National and international football for the youth of Kangpokpi in particular and Manipur as a whole.
After hoisting the KFA flag as a mark of the opening ceremony, ADC Sadar Hills Chairman and other dignitaries along with KFA officials inspected the players and kicked in the football to launch the tournament.
The opening match was played between Kholjang Youth Club and Taphou Football Club.
Lunminhao impressed all with five goals (4', 14', 18', 29', 51') and Ngamgougin scored thrice (22', 35'+l', 38') to give Kholjang YC its first 8-1 win over Taphou FC which managed a single through Sehthang in the 25th minute.
In the second match, Twilang Area Sporting Association (TASA) had an easy 4-0 win over Pangmol Youth Club.
Paokap (10'), Seidinglen (l 7'), Dougouthang (37') and Haoginlal (63') scored one goal each for the winning side.
In the third match, Bongmoul Youth Club sealed a narrow 1-0 win over FC Ngaimel, Moulsang.
The lone winning goal was scored by Henminson early in the 6th minute.
According to the organizing committee, the prize money carries Rs 1 Lakh with trophy for the champions and Rs.70,000 with trophy for the runners up team.
Attractive individual prizes such as Man of the Tournament, Top Scorer, Best Keeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder Best Striker and Hattrick will also be awarded.
The 66 teams clubbed into 22 pools are participating in this tourney being held at D Phaihel village.
