Jeet Kune-Do players in danger of missing Asian Championship

11 Jeet Kune-Do players who were announced by Jeet Kune-Do Association of Manipur on November 8 to represent team India are in fear of missing the Asian Cup Jeet Kune-Do Championship 2017 .
Most players came from humble background and so far the State Government has not provided any assistance to these players.
In a press meet held at Yairipok Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai community hall, Dr Laishram Ibomcha, secretary of Jeet Kune-Do Association of Manipur said that the players have brought many medals in the previous events but the State Government has not yet recognised their effort.
He said that the selected players have the potential to win the upcoming Asian event which will be held at Pattaya Sports Complex, Thailand from November 24 to 28 and they are also preparing for the World Championship.
But they are having a hard time in preparing as the Government has not provided any financial assistance.
They are now living in fear that they would miss the event even though they are selected as the travel charges and other expenses are still beyond their capacity.
Ibomcha further said that they would do even better if they get full support from the authorities concerned as well as the State Government.
The names of the players announced are; Keisham Lanchenba (Sub-jr, 30 Kg), Arubam Tenison (Sub-jr, 35 kg), Moirangthem Kelvin Singh (Sub-Jr, 50 kg) and Ch Ningthem (50kg Senior) for the light contact event; W Hemiet (Sub-Jr, 40 Kg), Victory Oinam (Sub-Jr, 51 Kg) and N Hitler (Junior, 55 Kg), O Rishikanta (Junior, 66 Kg) for
the full contact event; Toijam Anjana (Sub-Junior, 45 Kg) and Kabita Longjam (55 Kg) for the women's light contact event; O Sanayai Singh for the senior men's form
competition.
Dr M Ibomcha has been named as coach of team India.
