IGP Clay Khongsai kicks off 3rd Kpi District Badminton Open C'ship

Inspector General of Police (Zone-I) Clay Khongsai kicked off the 3rd Kangpokpi District Badminton Open Championship, 2019 today at Kangpokpi District Badminton Hall, Kangpokpi DHQs.
The IPS officer graced the inaugural ceremony of the championship as the chief guest while IGP (Zone-III), K Jayenta and Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, Hemant Pandey attended as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Manipur Badminton Association (MBA) general secretary, Shyam Kumar and executive members of MBA, Bale and Joy also attended the inaugural function of the championship organized Kangpokpi District Badminton Association (KBDA) .

IPS Clay Khongsai, IGP Zone-I and Krishna Kumar duo and IPS K Jayenta, IGP Zone-III and Vikram duo played an exhibition match before the inaugural function of the championships where IPS Clay Khongsai and Krishna Kumar duo won the match in 2-0 (21-12, 21-19) sets.
Speaking at the occasion, IPS Clay Khongsai appreciated the tireless efforts and struggles of Kangpokpi District Badminton Association in introducing and establishing the spirit of playing badminton among the youngster in the district which will not only make them physically fit but also avert them from indulging in drugs and other antisocial activities.
He also said, " The game of Badminton in Kangpokpi District is still in an infant stage but if the game spirit and tendency of motivation goes well it will create remarkable endeavours very shortly and it is my appeals to all the youngsters of Kangpokpi to occupy more space in games and sports rather than having a more wasted time".
The IPS officer also urged the Manipur Badminton Association to guide and motivate Kangpokpi District Badminton Association during its crucial stage in all possible ways as proper guidance is also the need of the association at this juncture.
According to officials source of KDBA, around 46 players will be participating in the Men's Open (Doubles and Single), Men's Open Veteran (Doubles and single), women's open (Doubles and single), under 19 (Double and single) and mixed doubles categories.
The tournament will also serve as the trial selection for district team for the State Level Championship to be held in Tamenglong, reports our correspondent.
