Tentha Polo Club-A emerge boys' winners; Thangmeiband Youth Polo Gub-A claim women's title

Tentha Polo Club-A claimed the title of the 2nd State Junior Boy's Polo Tournament 2018 while Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club-A were crowned champions of the 14th State Women's Polo Tournament 2018 .
Both the tourneys began on December 28 at Mapal Kangj eibung under the aegis of all Manipur Polo Association and featured 6 boys' and 5 women's teams.
Tentha Polo Club-A edged Nagamapal Youth Polo Club 3-2 in the final to lift the boys' trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runners up had to contend with Rs 7,000 .
It was indeed an exciting match as Khoisnam Ronaldo and Thoudam Manisana chipped in one goal respectively in the first and the second chukker to give Nagamapal Youth Polo Club a 2-0 lead till the break but T Bishorjit led the comeback of the Tentha side scoring a goal in the third chukker while S Shaolin and P Bikash to the honour to score one goal each in the last chukker steering their team to a 3-2 win.
In the women's final, Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club trounced K&MM Riding School 4-1 to lay their hands on the title trophy and walked away with the cash prize of Rs 15,000 .
The runners up on the other hand, were encouraged with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
Khundongbam Habe did the star turn in the final match for the Thangmeiband side scoring two goals alone in the first chukker.
The other goals of the team that led to a landslide win were scored by Khundongbam Deventi and Victoria Oinam in the second chukker.
The lone goal of K&MM Riding School was scored by Jetholia Thangbam in the second chukker.
The valedictory function of the tournaments was graced by Adim Panmei, VC Manipur Disaster Management Authority; K Saratchandra Singh, president All Manipur Polo Association as dignitaries who also gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up .
