The 20th batallion of Assam Rifles has send off 17 youths of the state to Pune for imparting training in sporting events in the Army Sports Institute, Pune.
In a simple function held at the complex of 26th Sector AR, Pallel Commander, 26 Sector, Assam Rifles, Brigadier Balbir said that this step of the Assam Rifles will help the sportspersons of the state to bring more fame for the country in Olympic.
He said that the selected players will be given training in seven different events.
After proper training they will be able to bring fame of the state and the country in international arena.
He further said that the selected players will get facility to get training of the lifestyle of an army upto 17 and half years of age.
They will also be provided with free education upto class 10 along with residential facility.
They will get the chance to bring fame to the country from this step of the AR, he further said.
The players were selected after scrutiny which was held at Maha Union ground, Chandel from November 10 to 14 last.
Altogether 300 players participated the scrutiny.
