Xth Jadonang memorial football tournament Sawombung Sairem crowned champions

SSYC, Sawombung Sairem beat NYC, Namdunlong 3-1 to claim title of the Xth Jadonang Memorial Football tournament 2016 organised by Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA) at THAU sports complex today.
The thrilling final match of the tournament, marked by display of fireworks, was attended by Gaikhangam, Deputy CM as the chief guest.
Ngamthang Haokip, Minister, IFCD, D Korungthang, Minister, Health & Family Welfare were the guests of honour.
Dipu Gangmei, MCS and Meibon Phaomei, Deputy Mayor, Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) who are also the chairman and vice-chairman of the organizing committee of the Xth Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament 2016 were also present in the function.

Both teams made a cagey start and none of the teams could break the stalemate in the first quarter of the first half.
Palmei Lanrailung handed the first lead to Sairem as he slotted home the opener in the 19th minute.
Even as the Namdunlong side made frenzied attempts to restore parity, they could not succeed as their rivals defenders stood firm to keep their lead intact.
In the second half, Pougakdai Kamei of Namdunlong levelled the score as he was bang on target in the 62nd minute.
The Sawombung team upped their attacking game and they were rewarded for their efforts and they managed to take the lead once again through Palmei Dingampu in the 72nd minute.
Although the Namdunlong outfits pushed hard to equalise the score, they fell short of finding the leveller.
Instead, Palmei Rambo took charge to score another goal and sealed the deal for Sairem.
SSYC, Sairem were given Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy while the runners up team NYC were given Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
Poungakdai Kamei of Namdunlong was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
He was presented Rs 5000 and a Cup while the best goalkeeper award, which consists of Rs 5000 and a cup, was given to Golmei Dihem of Sawombung Sairem YC.
Jiangongrei Dangmei was the highest scorer of the tournament and presented Rs 5000 along with a Cup.
Third place winners GFC, Gaidimjang were presented Rs 25,000 and a trophy while the best disciplined team award, comprising Rs 10,000 and a Cup, was given to Duithanjang YC.
Chingmeirong Rongmei YC were adjudged the best march past team of the opening ceremony and they were presented Rs 10,000 with a cup.
