Manipur win bid to host two events of 64th National School Games

Manipur will be hosting two events of the 64th National School Games 2018, namely Taekwondo for U-14 boys and girls; and Fencing for U-14 and U-17 boys and girls.
Manipur was officially announced the hosts of the two events in the general session of School Games Federation of India held at Goa after winning the bid outscoring bids made by other big states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi.
Armstrong Pame (IAS), Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Department attended the bidding session as a representative of Manipur.
The session also saw President of School Games Federation of India, two times Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who was also representing Delhi on the occasion.
The two events of the 64th National School Games are scheduled to be held in the 1st and the 3rd week of November this year.
Both disciplines are likely to attract around 1000 participants from across India.
The session also witnessed Rajasthan win the bid for hosting U-17 Football event while Jammu and Kashmir won the bid for hosting U-19 Football event for both boys and girls.
YAS Director, Armstrong Pame in his personal message after winning the bid, said that the Youth Affairs and Sports Department will soon start the process of selecting students who will represent Manipur in the 64th National School Games 2018.He further said that preparation to host Taekwondo and Fencing events will be started soon.
Timely preparation will ensure Manipur win maximum medals in the said events, he added.
