Golf tournament

As a run up to the 62nd Territorial Army Day which falls on October 9, 165 Infantry Battalion (TA) (H&H), Assam organised the inaugural Terriers Golf Tournament at Leimakhong Greens today wherein a total of eight four balls including five four Red Shield Environment Park and Training Area, two from Manipur Golf Association and one from Mantripukhuri Environmental Park and Training Area took part.
According to a PIB (DW) release, the competition was held on stroke play format and was keenly contested by all the participants, including two lady golfers.
GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, gave away prizes to winners of the men's competition.
M Rachandra Singh won the best Gross and the maximum birdies while Col Vikram Singh was the runner up in Best Gross.
In the Best Net Category, Lt Col AP Singh was the winner followed by Lt Col Rajesh Kumar as the runner-up.
The longest drive was claimed by Maj Vikash Bali, Col PP Barik won the maximum pass and Ratan Kumar won the closest to pin award.
Mrs Annie Poonen presented the prizes to the winner and runner-up of the ladies putting competition viz Sonia Sharma and Amarja Khasnis, the release added .
