SFL champ Kario feted, Punanamei gifts Rs 1 lakh

Champion of Super Fight League Challenger, India's first Mixed Martial Arts Championships, A Kario Issac Maheo was felicitated amidst rousing cheers at Senapati Bazar today.
In the occasion, Punanamei village gifted him a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh as an encouragement of his achievement.
The felicitation programme was jointly organised by Senapati District Olympic Association and Senapati District Administration at Senapati Bazar Football Ground.
Olympic Brone medallist boxer MC Mary Kom graced the function as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Kario said that perseverance is the only key to reach one's goal and urged the youths of the state to work hard and never give up to get their goals.
Expressing his satisfaction over the rousing welcome he recieved, Kario said that he has got his satisfaction of winning the first ever championship of India after seeing the love and affection from the crowd in today's function.

He further said that one should never take the hurdles and inconveniences faced in the path of success.
It is only after facing such situation bravely that one succeed in acomplishing his dreams.
Speaking as Chief Guest, Olympic Gold Medallist MC Mary Kom encouraged the budding sportspersons of the state to work hard in their career and said that the government will help them one day if they become a successfull sportsperson.
She also advised the promising players of the state to work hard and maitain discipline to become a successful person.
She further assured that she will provide training and boxing equipments if the government set up a boxing institute in Senapati district. In the occasion different Naga bodies and individuals presented Kario with gifts and cash incentives.
Senapati District Olympic Association also honoured him by presenting traditional war dress.
The felicitation function was attended by leaders of different Naga bodies.
Kario born to the late Loly Ashikho and PF Nisa of Karong village, Senapati district.
He is the second child with an elder sister and three younger briothers.
He had his primary schooling in Mumbai.
He completed High School from St Joseph School, Tadubi and graduated in B Com with honours from St Joseph's College, Jakhama, Nagaland.
From a very tender age, Kario developed a passion for sports and fitness.
It was at the age of seven that he had his first initiation to Karate when he joined a school in Mumbai for a brief period.
He got in touch with Daniel Isaac, the pioneer of MMA in India who invited him to their gym in Mumbai.
Kario was on flight duty when he first visited the MMA gym.
