MLSA emerge team champions of 1st L Brojeshori Memorial Judo Championship

Mayai Lambi Sports Academy (MLSA) were crowned team champions of the 1st L Brojeshori Memorial Judo Championship organised by Manipur Judo Association at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal after collecting a total of 60 points on the back of 3 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals as the championship came to an end today.
BBA, Mayang Imphal which managed 38 points finished runners up at this championship.
Last Day Action
L Nganthoi of BBA was able to claim the gold medal in the -52 kg category event for female after she beat Anjali Thangjam of MLSA while L Pushpa of MLSA and M Jenita of SAI settled for the bronze medals.
-57 kg women's title went to Th Joyshree of SAI as she got the better of MLSA's A Linthoinganbi in the final.
H Subhasini of SAI and H Sunandi of MLSA were able to grab the bronze medals for this weight category.
Th Gangarani Devi of MPSC laid her hand on the gold medal for the +57 kg to 78 kg event as she overcame I Kalpana Devi of MLSA in the final while MLSA's Ng Dipapati and L Guguria had to settle for the bronze medals.
Meanwhile in the men's -60 kg event final, NK Somorjit of BBA outshone A Kirankumar of MLSA to bag the gold medal while BBA's A Wanglen and SAI's S Ronaldo claimed the bronze medals.
MPSC's M Inaoton on the other hand fetched the gold medal for men's +60 kg to 81 kg category after he beat L Themis of MLSA in the final staged today.
W Ranbir and M Sanathoi who made it to the last 4 round grabbed the bronze medals.
The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, president Manipur Judo Association; Bijoy Koijam, working president Manipur Judo Association; JS Hanglem, life president Manipur Judo Association; Kh Temba Singh, vice president Manipur Judo Association; L Tarpon, vice president Manipur Judo Association; S Chaoba Singh, vice president Manipur Judo Association; L Ibomcha Singh, Dronacharya Awardee; T Thouba Singh, Assistant Director, YAS; Kh Tombi Devi, Judo Olympian and A Anita Chanu, Arjuna Awardee as dignitaries who also feted the Group winners and runners up and third place respectively with Rs 2,000; Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 each.
Team champions were also feted with Rs 5,000 on the occasion and runners up BBA, Mayang Imphal were awarded with Rs 3,000.NK Somorjit of BBA (-60 kg) and KhReena of SAI (-48 kg) who were respectively announced as best judokas (male and female) also got with Rs 2,000 each.
