Imphal, January 31 2014 :
Riding on a brilliant hat trick from Azami Shah, KIYC, Kshetri Iril Mapal thrashed Waimang, Haflong Assam by 7 goals to one in the 10th Jiri Cup Invitation Football Tournament.
Opting for an attacking and flowing game, Azami Shah opened the flood gates as early as the 23rd minute and quickly followed it up with two more goals in the 28th and 42nd minute.
Buoyed by the three early goals, KIYC went on the offensive in the second half and Gandhi Kamei netted the ball in the 60th minute followed by two more goals from Wahab in the 66th and 71st minute.
In between Lalmenlung pulled one back for the Haflong team in the 68th minute, but this was not enough as Akbar Khan was on target four minutes from time to complete the rout.
In the second match of the day, YDO Konjenglamdon scrapped past LNPPC Aizawl by 3 goals to two.
The two teams were evenly matched, but O Olen of YDO lived up to the moment to score a brace and help his team register the win.
The first goal came in the 10th minute, when an unmarked N Joykumar of YDO had no problem in controlling a measured pass near the goal mouth of LNPCC and despatched the ball into the far right of the net.
Rattled by the early goal, LNPCC fought back and after a series of passes and co-ordination moved into the territory of YDO where a well placed Lalrawnglawla had little difficulty in finding the target to bring his team back into the game in the 25th minute.
The equaliser however did not last long as O Olen was bang on target in the 43rd minute to put YDO ahead.
In the second half, LNPPC went all out and Lalnghakliela equalised again in the 62nd minute.
O Olen was however at it again when he scored in 72nd minute to seal the match.
