Gold medals for 12 boxers at State boxing championship; youth men competition begins

12 boxers punched their way to gold medals in the State Level Boxing Championship 2021 on Sunday at the Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
The gold medallists in the day's competition were Kayenpaibam Bandana Chanu (youth women 50kg), Bidyapati (elite women - 58kg), Sanjram Suresh Singh (elite men - 51kg), Khuman them Sinthoi Singh (elite men - 52kg), Meekness Khaidem Meitei (jr boys - 5:2kg), Thounaojam Ojibala Devi (elite women - 52kg), Laishram Nongshaba Singh (elite women - 54kg), Puyalaxmi Khundrakpam (sub-jr girls - 55kg), Wahengbam Lamjingba (jrboys - 57kg), Chingilemba Moirangthem (jr boys - 60kg), Melody Kilong (youth women - 63kg) and Shamurailatpam Arjun Sharma (youth men - 63kg) .
Youth Men Competition The State Level Boxing Championship 2021 for III Youth Men commenced on Sunday.
IGP IK Muivah, who attended as chief guest, said that there is now a high level of optimism and expectancy of great results in sports in Manipur.
The repeated medal performance of Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Dingku and others in the international arena has made the public think when the next Olympic medal will be won in boxing from the state, he added.
IGP Muivah further said that many youngsters feel inspired to join boxing which is creating a large talent pool, adding that Investment in coaches and infrastructure will lead to greater results.
